Andy has worked in primary education for 29 years. During his career, Andy became an advanced skills teacher and went on to be a headteacher in two schools. His previous school was judged to be outstanding across all areas in its last OFSTED Inspection. He has supported the leadership team in three other schools and was part of a national SCITT for over ten years.
Andy is now an independent adviser focusing on supporting schools through a range of activities to drive forward school improvement. He is an international assessor for a range of awards developed and managed by Optimus Education.
Andy has continued with his love for mountaineering which has taken him all over the world, including three expeditions to the Himalayas. He summitted Everest in May 2016.

2018 to present
Andy is a registered Lead Inspector and has been working in this role since 2018. As a self-employed School Improvement Adviser, he works with schools both in Academy Trusts and Local Authorities. Currently, he is working with 14 schools in this capacity.
September 2017 to present
I carry out work for Optimus Education. In this role, I have supported schools with their self-evaluation, preparation for forthcoming inspections and also conducted Pupil Premium Reviews. I work both internationally and nationally as an adviser and assessor for the following awards: Wellbeing in Schools, Leading Parent Partnership Award and the SEND Inclusion Award.
